What is the average tech salary in Charlotte for software developers?
The average tech salary in Charlotte is $100,000 but is growing in surprisingly fast rates and affects over compensation including bonuses and company equity.
Why are Charlotte tech salaries increasing?
The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance reports that more than 52,000 core high-tech talent workers live and work in Charlotte with nearly 35% working for corporate headquarters, finance and insurance or consulting services. Another 35% of IT professionals work for core tech industries encompassing rapidly growing markets like software publishers and computer system design services.
According to Forester Research, Charlotte compounded 10,3% annual growth in tech professionals since 2012, making it the fastest growing tech market in the nation and putting it on track to soon becoming one of the major tech hubs.
The Charlotte market has seen unprecedented growth in several tech professions and tech salaries: including application developers (14.7%), tech analysts (18.2%), security specialists (14.7%) and tech managers (9.7%), according to Forester.
Perhaps the most compelling case for salary growth in the city is Charlotte being ranked No. 1 on the "CompTIA Tech Town Index 2019", released in March by Comptia. That report, designed to help IT professionals "make educated decisions about where to live and work based on opportunity and opportunity costs," noted the tech needs of the city's financial giants among the factors driving demand for workers in Charlotte."
